Well it's been awhile ...

Whew ... It's been a crazy few weeks. On July 15 (Dave's Birthday, poor guy), I found myself back in the hospital. (I had already been back July 2-4 for an infection.) I was spiking temperatures of 103 and having pains in my lower abdomen around my c-section incision. Well this time I was treated with 5 rounds of IV antibiotics. While this wasn't working, I had 2 CT scans to see what was going on. The doctors saw lots of abscesses (infection), so it took quite a few days for them to get together and decide that I needed surgery. The antibiotics were not working at all! On Wed, July 20 I went in for surgery to remove all of the infection. The goal was to save my uterus. We weren't sure if this was going to be possible. The doctors went in and were able to get all the infection and preserve my uterus. Praise God!!! However, they did make the decision to leave my incision open. They wanted me to heal from the inside out, so they left me with an open wound that has to be repacked twice daily. I took a bad turn after my surgery, and they were worried that I was having a complication from the surgery. I got taken back for an x-ray. Everything looked great. They ended up getting my meds in order, and I started feeling much better. A few days later on Tues, July 26 (Everett's one month birthday), I got to come home.

Now I have to have a nurse come over twice a day to change my dressing. It is somewhat painful, but gets better every day. I have an at home nurse, but she doesn't come that often. My good friend Olivia has come over and filled in. She is wonderful, and I thank God so much for her and her friendship. This week my friend Brooke is also going to start helping. Praise God for her too!

I hope to be able to keep up with my blog now. :) I'll post some pictures that we've taken of Everett from the past few weeks.

I got accused of making the water too cold. Ha. He was not happy. I was a nervous wreck. I kept telling Dave, "don't let go of him, he's going to drown." I might have almost cried. :)

After we got home from the hospital for the last time, Oma & Grandma give Everett a bath. He got so big while we were gone. :( He went to his 1 month Dr. appt and weighed 10 lbs 5 oz. and was in the 64th percentile and was 22 inches long in the 60th percentile. The Dr. was impressed and said he is looking good!

  1. Love all the pictures! Oh Amber, your poor ordeal sounds awful, glad to finally hear all the details, it was so hard to communicate through texting! Happy that it's all behind you now and you are on your way to getting better. Praise the Lord!!! Can't wait to see you and meet Everett in person. I will come by one night this week when Brad can watch all the kids. See you soon!
